Iturriaga earned a bachelor’s from the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música in Spain, a bachelor’s from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, also in Spain, and a master’s from New York University.

She was interim dean of the College of Computing and Information Sciences at RIT.
