Utah State University Student Group to Approach Regents Over Insurance

LOGAN, Utah

Utah State University students will ask the Board of Regents to make health insurance mandatory for everyone enrolled in the state’s public colleges and universities.

The director of USU’s Student Health and Wellness Center Dr. Jim Davis says it’s an idea whose time has come.

Under the USU proposal, students would have to show proof of insurance coverage when they enroll, or buy into USU’s student insurance program.

Davis says USU student government representatives plan to approach the board before the end of the year. He says students and administrators are concerned about the well-being of uninsured students.
