GITA GOPINATH has been named chief economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She currently is the John Zwaanstra Professor of International Studies and Economics at Harvard University. Gopinath earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delhi, two master’s degrees from the Delhi School of Economics and University of Washington and a Ph.D. from Princeton University.
