Clarke University Taps Dr. Thom Chesney As Next President

Clarke University officials has named Dr. Thom Chesney as the school’s 16th president.

Currently, Chesney is the president of Brookhaven College, a school that is part of the Dallas County Community College District and annually serves over 13,000 students. He also served as associate provost for student success and assessment for the University of Texas at Dallas and vice president of academic affairs and provost of Collin College.

“The opportunity to join the work of Clarke University, and become deeply rooted in the larger community, is an enormous privilege,” Chesney said in a statement. “A university that honors its faith, history and community roots in its programs, partnerships and institutional culture is vital to the health of our society, and Clarke leads by example in this and so many other areas.”

Chesney received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Washington University in St. Louis, a master’s degree in creative writing from Minnesota State University, Mankato and a Ph.D. in English literature from Florida State University.
