Hispanic-Serving Institutions Are Awarded Funds to Improve Instruction, Curriculum
The U.S. Department of Education has awarded $19.4 million to help improve instruction, curriculum and facilities at 45 Hispanic-serving colleges and universities.Education Secretary Dr. Roderick R. Paige made the announcement in early July. Forty of the colleges will receive approximately $400,000 in development grants to support academic improvements and community partnerships. The other five will receive cooperative development grants of approximately $600,000 each in which they will work with other institutions to promote Hispanic achievement.For more information or a complete listing of the grantees, visit the department’s Web site at <www.ed.gov>.
