Walsh College announced a partnership with Detroit Promise to offer an opportunity for community college students to complete a four-year degree tuition-free.

This is the first institution to collaborate with Detroit Promise, which covers tuition after financial aid at either a community college or four-year university. In order to qualify for the promise program, students must hold at least a 3.0 GPA and an SAT score of 1060, The Detroit News reported.

In order to be eligible to transfer to Walsh, students must have 60 credits or hold an associate degree from Henry Ford College, Jackson College, Macomb Community College, Oakland Community College, Schoolcraft College or Wayne County Community College District, according The Detroit News.

“We are thrilled that Detroit Promise community college students now have this option to move on to complete a four-year degree, tuition-free,” said Greg Handel, vice president of education and talent programs for the Detroit Regional Chamber. “We’re hopeful that more four-year institutions will join Walsh in providing this transfer option going forward.”
