TRACIE HALL has been appointed the first Black executive director of the American Library Association. Previously the director of the culture portfolio at the Chicagobased Joyce Foundation, Hall holds a bachelor’s in law and society and Black studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, a master’s in international and area studies from Yale University and a master’s in library and information science from the University of Washington.
