The donation from the multi-generational Waterville family will support landmark arts and athletics initiatives such as the art center and the welcome pavilion in the new recreation center.

As a result, Dana L. Schmaltz and Kate Enroth will name the Colby College Museum of Art’s gallery in honor of Joan Dignam Schmaltz, Colby class of 1963. The welcome pavilion will also be named after Richard R. “Dick” Schmaltz, Colby class of 1962.
