Dr. Anita Fernández Named Prescott College’s First Chief Diversity Officer

Dr. Anita Fernández has been appointed Prescott College’s first chief diversity officer (CDO). In the role, she will report directly to Prescott President John Flicker and his leadership team.

Fernández is currently occupying a different role at Prescott, as director and assistant dean of Prescott College Tucson. And prior to that, she was Prescott’s director of the Social Justice and Community Organizing master’s program.

She is also co-founder and director of urban education consulting organization Xicanx Institute for Teaching and Organizing (XITO).

Fernández holds a M.A. and a Ph.D. from The University of Arizona College of Education.

As Prescott’s CDO, she will lead the school’s strategic plan in regard to racial justice and inclusion. She will also work with the Racial Justice and Inclusion Committee and the Faculty and Staff Leadership Councils towards professional development efforts.
