Oregon State University President Dr. F. King Alexander has resigned from his post, effective April 1. Alexander has been the subject of criticism recently after the release of a report – known as the Husch Blackwell report – alleged that while he was president of Louisiana State University, he mishandled Title IX matters.
Dr. F. King AlexanderBoard of Trustees Chair Rani Borkar spoke of commitments to the OSU community in a March 23 statement.
“First, the responsibility and accountability for selecting and evaluating the president rests with this board,” Borkar wrote. “I pledge to work with the Board to review past procedures and to learn and improve from this experience. We can do better, and we will do better for OSU.”
OSU Provost and Executive Vice President Dr. Ed Feser will serve as OSU’s acting president.
On Wednesday, the Board of Trustees’ Executive and Audit Committee will discuss next steps in assessing the school’s Title IX reporting and survivor services and the timeline for an interim president appointment.
Alexander was put on probation through June 1 by the board before this latest development.
