Dr. Grace C. Huang, an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS), has been named the school’s new dean for faculty affairs.

In addition to her faculty role, Huang also serves as vice chair for career development and mentoring in the Department of Medicine, director of the Office of Academic Careers and Faculty Development at BIDMC and co-director of the BIDMC Academy, HMS reported.

Beginning July 1, Huang will lead the Office for Faculty Affairs and manage recruitment strategies, career satisfaction and academic advancement among faculty members, according to HMS.

“I wholeheartedly believe that faculty are the lifeblood of an academic institution,” Huang said. “My passion and mission are to help individuals reach their highest potential, not purely for the sake of promotion but for the higher cause of achieving professional vitality. Having personally benefited from the training, mentorship, and support from HMS faculty for more than 20 years, I am humbled and awed by the privilege to serve Harvard Medical School in this respect.”
