Bowie State Fires Ex-NFL Player Charles Grant for Body-Slamming Student

BOWIE, Md. ― Former NFL player Charles Grant has been fired from his position as a volunteer football coach at Bowie State University after a video surfaced showing him throwing a student to the floor.

The video, released by TMZ Sports, shows Grant shouting at the student before body-slamming him in the gymnasium. Grant then shoved the student into the bleachers.

A spokesman for the school says Grant has been terminated from his position and that the incident is being investigated by the university police department.

The 36-year-old Grant was a first-round pick out of Georgia by the New Orleans Saints in 2002. He played on the Saints’ defensive line when they won the Super Bowl in 2009.

His NFL career ended after a two-week stint with Chicago in 2010.
