White Towson University Student Accused of Using Racial Slur

TOWSON, Md. ― A Black Towson University student has accused a white student of calling her a racial slur while arguing over a parking space last week.

The Baltimore Sun reports that university officials are investigating the incident, which gained attention on social media after the Black student tweeted about it. University officials have declined to identify the students involved.

Towson spokesman Ray Feldmann said the university began an investigation Friday after two students who witnessed the confrontation reported it to school officials.

In April, a student got into a verbal altercation with an employee at a cafe campus. The student was accused of making racist comment and throwing coins at the employee.

That incident prompted the university to launch a #NotAtTU campaign dedicated to teaching students how to report hate crimes.
