COVID-19 Reveals Viral Discrimination, Higher Ed Should Pay Attention
People are still saying “the virus doesn’t discriminate,” in spite of all the evidence to the contrary.  We are not equally “all in this together.” The virus is hitting vulnerable populations the hardest—our elderly, those with underlying health conditions, unhoused people, Natives, Black and Brown communities, and especially those living at any of these intersections.

Scholar Inspires Next Generation of Researchers
Even though Dr. James Earl Davis grew up in the rural South, near Huntsville, Alabama, he has always loved cities. Now, Davis — a prolific researcher and teacher — uses urban spaces as a platform for his scholarship at Temple University, where he holds the Bernard C. Watson Endowed Chair in Urban Education and is a professor of higher education and educational leadership.

A Harlem Daughter Gives Back
Dr. Terri N. Watson is proud of her Harlem background, and although much of her earlier research was conducted in Florida where she earned her Ph.D., she has returned to her roots and is breaking new ground as an assistant professor in the City College of New York’s School of Education.
