We are living in pandemic pandemonium, where panic is the prevailing mode of operation. Every college and university is operating with all hands-on deck, altering their operational norms; the result is that campus employees—academics, practitioners, and leaders—are beyond exhausted. Yet, for those of us who have witnessed campuses in crisis, all of this feels eerily familiar. As two higher education professionals and scholars who worked on the ground through Hurricane Katrina and studied campus crisis response, we are extremely reflective and vigilant about how we move forward in this new reality.

He Said, He Said: Black Male Cross-Generational Conversations on Black Masculinity, Resources, Family Influence and Career and Future Success
This blog (Part 2), is the second installment of the He Said, He Said discussion that we initiated a few months ago. In Part 1 we talked about why the dialogue about the experiences of Black males across the generational divide was important. We covered the first three of what we identified as seven critical themes. The objective was to offer our perspectives on these themes and to unpack how they shaped the contours of our lived experiences, as well as the experiences of other Black males in P-20 education settings. Hence, this blog explores the remaining four themes: Black Masculinity; Resources; Family Influence and Support; and Career and Future Success.

Improving Financial Literacy Among Students of Color, Especially Millennials
Time and time again, I overhear people speaking about how they wish they would have learned the importance of personal finance in high school. Whether it is information about how to file taxes, understanding credit, or guidance on getting loans to purchase a vehicle, home, or to attend school, it has become clear to me that people acknowledge having to make these types of financial decisions with little to no background knowledge about it beforehand.
