Academic advisor Dana Blount describes Tyler Johnson, a track and cross country athlete at The Ohio State University, as “a very hardworking young man that has exceeded expectations in the classroom and in his sport.” A graduate student studying sport industry, Johnson is a nine-time NCAA All-American and Big Ten record holder in the 400-meter dash. He takes part in the Bell National Resource Center Leadership Institute, a student development initiative designed to promote leadership principles that serve as essential elements of individual and organizational success for Black male students at Ohio State. He is a member of Redefining Athletic Standards, a student organization that supports the empowerment of Black male student-athletes.
